Hi! Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. My name is Alec and I am a second year Sociology and History student at McGill University. I moved to Montreal in 2016 to do my undergraduate degree after living in Biñan, Philippines for 18 years.
I love talking to people and learning their stories. It’s why I aspire to be a journalist. Behind every person are anecdotes of completely distinct lives that I believe are worth telling. Due to this, a lot of my interests and hobbies involve interacting with other people from different backgrounds. Most recently I was an intern at Vancouve Magazine and Western Living Magazine, a freelance writer for several publications, such as the Diplomat, and a field correspondent at Sigaw Ng Bayan at CKUT 90.3 FM. At this moment, my personal goal is to improve my expertise in media through writing, broadcast, and video.
Currently, I am an editor at McGill International Review, a student-run scholarly journal that discusses international politics.
In my spare time I enjoy listening to music (Otis Redding and Michael Buble are my personal favourites), playing/watching basketball (Dirk Nowitzki is my idol), and exploring new and exciting places.
